Beautiful traditional designs that were made hundreds of years ago are what leadlights are all about. It’s the birth place of leadlight and Stained Glass.

In Early times, coloured glass slabs were originally set in concrete to form beautiful patterns to enhance the Beauty and Architecture of buildings of the times. Eventually Lead was introduced as a way of joining coloured glass together. Because of its soft properties, the use of lead was perfect in that you can bend it to suit all kinds of shapes. Once the lead is puttied, the window is strong enough to be self supporting. Over sized or windows that go into door panels, can be strengthened with the use of steel rods either attached to the surface or more recently, hidden within the lead strip.
